Understanding Rex Takes Time, But He’s Worth It
Rex is looking for his furever home. While he’s enjoyed his fosters, we want Rex to find stability and enjoy the good life that he more than deserves.
This sweet guy has come a long way in foster care after his trauma with his previous owner, and his story is a reminder of how important patience and understanding are, especially during those crucial first few weeks in a new home.
If you’re familiar with the 3-3-3 rule, he fits it to a T:
3 days to decompress
3 weeks to start learning the routine
3 months to fully settle in.
He needs someone who won’t expect a perfect dog on day one, but someone who can be patient through the transition, give him time to settle in, and see the sweet, loyal dog he’s become.
Rex is a truly special soul: smart, attentive, and eager to connect. He knows several commands, is fully potty-trained, and more than anything, he’s looking for that one person or family to be his world. Rex isn’t just a pet; he’s the kind of companion who becomes your family member, your comfort, your best friend.
One of his favorite things is curling up in bed, but only after politely asking if it’s okay. He’s gentle, respectful, and absolutely melts into a fuzzy blanket like it’s his safe place.
Rex will thrive in a home with structure, but that also accommodates his energy level. Busy or chaotic environments can overwhelm him at times, but in the right home, his personality shines, and the bond he’ll form with his person will be something truly beautiful.
He’s great with most other dogs and looooves to play. He has shown no interest in chasing or bothering the cats, even around food or high activity. He’s proven to be completely trustworthy with cats.
Rex is a 3-year-old German Shepherd/Husky/“something else” mix with a heart full of loyalty and love. He’s neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and previously spent time training with Snake River Four Paws, so he comes with a great foundation.
Rex is currently in foster care with Idaho Animal Rescue Network. They’re based in Lewiston, Idaho.
